The Office of Global Engagement ( OGE ) at the University of Georgia is dedicated to expanding the global reach of our institution's instructional, research, and service missions, facilitating the university's thoughtful and effective participation and leadership in the interconnected world of the twenty-first century. OGE is comprised of three units: Immigration Services, International Initiatives, and Global Education-the latter including UGA's residential centers in Oxford, England and Cortona, Italy-with all areas supported by dedicated Finance and Operations staff. Position Summary
This position oversees employment-based Permanent Residency (PR) sponsorships and selected nonimmigrant petitions, with a specialization in I-140 immigrant petitions and O-1 sponsorships. The incumbent assists foreign national employees and sponsoring departments with immigration procedures, ensuring all petitions, applications, and supporting documentation are prepared accurately and filed in a timely manner. The position establishes and maintains compliant immigration records, manages assigned program components, compiles reports, assists with budget tracking related to immigration cases, and monitors departmental projects related to lawful permanent residency and employment-based sponsorships.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
- Working knowledge of U.S. employment-based immigration regulations and processes, including permanent residency sponsorship and O-1 petitions.
- Ability to independently assess cases and determine appropriate immigration strategies within institutional and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while meeting strict regulatory deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex immigration concepts clearly to faculty, staff, and administrative partners.
- Proficiency with university and immigration case management systems, including e-mail and calendar systems, SAVE , Banner, Sunapsis, and Athena (preferred).
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential records.

- Prepare and file employer-sponsored petitions, including EB-1B and O-1 cases, and employment-based permanent residency (I-140) petitions.
- Liaise with faculty and staff advisors to ensure institutional support, regulatory compliance, and accurate documentation across all employment-based sponsorship categories.

- Serve as the primary point of contact for the I-485 green card process.
- Provide administrative support, prepare required UGA forms (including Supplement J), complete data entry, and coordinate with sponsoring departments and outside counsel as needed.
- Manage immigration case data within the case management system, including initial intake, status updates, and milestone tracking through all stages of the lawful permanent residency process.
