The Training Program:
General Responsibilities:
What You'll Do:
- Enterprise local content: Dig deep into our community to discover compelling stories that matter to our local audience, bringing fresh ideas to the table daily.
- Gain invaluable experience: Covering breaking news and planned events, delivering impactful reports for our viewers across all platforms.
- Shoot compelling video: Master the art of visual storytelling, capturing powerful footage that brings local narratives to life for television, streaming, and digital.
- Edit dynamic packages: Transform raw footage into polished, engaging news segments using industry-standard software, ready for broadcast and web.
- Produce multi-platform content: Craft local stories that resonate across television, our streaming channel, wrdw.com, and our buzzing social media platforms.
- Collaborate with our team: Work side-by-side with seasoned journalists, reporters, and producers, learning the ins and outs of a vibrant news operation.
What You Bring:
- Current enrollment: You're a college student (Junior or Senior status preferred) chasing a degree in Journalism, Communications, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
- A "doer" mindset: You aren't afraid to get your hands dirty and take initiative; you're here to work, not just watch.
- Digital savvy: You understand that media happens everywhere, from the big screen to the palm of someone's hand.
- Strong work ethic: You bring urgency, organization, and a "can-do" attitude to every shift.

- Reliability: You're ready to commit to the full 10-week program and the 25-hour weekly schedule.

Qualifications/Requirements:
What You Bring:
- Be currently enrolled in a college/university Program, approaching or in your Senior year, or pursuing graduate studies in Journalism, Mass Communications, or a related field.
- A solid foundation from completed college coursework in journalism and mass communication principles.
- Hands-on experience operating video cameras and proficiency with video editing software.
- Demonstrated news writing skills, with a portfolio or coursework showing your ability to craft clear, concise, and compelling stories.
- A digital-first mindset, understanding how content translates and thrives across various online and social platforms.
- Flexibility and a can-do attitude: News doesn't punch a clock, and your three 8-hour shifts (approximately 25 hours weekly at $15/hour) will likely shift to meet the demands of the news cycle.
- A valid Driver's License and the ability to pass an MVR Driving Record background check.
- A link to your online reel or portfolio showcasing your journalism work, we want to see what you can do!
- A burning desire for a career in news-this internship is specifically for aspiring journalists, not those interested in marketing, public relations, lifestyle reporting, hosting, or social media influencing.
- Strong work ethic and organizational skills
