The Opportunity
Due to the continued growth of our hospital, we are seeking experienced and motivated Criticalist(s) to lead the establishment of Critical Care as a new service at MediPaws, on a permanent basis, either full-time or part-time.
This is a rare opportunity to shape a service from the ground up. We intend to grow this into a full-service department with multiple criticalists, and you'll have genuine input into building and growing that team as we go.
Our Critical Care Environment
Our hospital and ICU include some of the best equipment to support you in your work, including:

- 1.5T MRI
- Nuclear medicine service supported by one of the only veterinary-commissioned SPECT/CT’s in Australia
- Dedicated ICU with around-the-clock nursing coverage
- Intensovet critical care oxygen cages
- Two ventilators with high flow capabilities
- Defibrillator (Mindray uMed20)
- Comprehensive in-house laboratory, including blood gas
- Vetus 50 ultrasound for POCUS
- All-new, high-quality Mindray equipment, including syringes and fluid pumps with built-in medication libraries
- Mindray UMEC12 multiparameter monitors (includes capnography and invasive blood pressure)
- In-house blood bank and donation program, supporting reliable access to quality blood products, with a strong focus on donor screening and wellbeing
- 24/7 coverage supported by on-call rosters across our surgical and internal medicine services

Your Clinical Environment
You'll work alongside an established emergency team and clinicians in other fields with advanced postgraduate training and credentials, including American and European Diplomates, as well as Fellows of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists. Our hospital fosters a culture of collaboration, peer discussion, clinical research and ongoing professional development, providing an environment where clinicians are supported to continue learning and deliver the highest standard of patient care.

About You
You are a specialist or residency-trained critical care specialist with a commitment to clinical excellence and a genuine interest in advancing your craft. You thrive in a collaborative hospital environment where the quality of cases, the calibre of your colleagues, and the standard of your facilities matter.
