Description

Under general supervision, codes and abstracts clinical information from the electronic patient record. Assigns appropriate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS or CPT codes as appropriate.

Qualifications

Education

• Required
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent

Experience:

• Required
• One to three years of experience in Medical Coding

Certification/Licensure:

• Required
• Certified Coding Associate (CCA)
• Must be obtained before hire date

• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
• Must be obtained before hire date
• Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT)
• Must be obtained before hire date
• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
