About Discovery Lab
Discovery Lab is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring children, connecting families, and building community through exploration, exhibits, and play. Since 2007, we have ignited curiosity through hands-on learning experiences that make science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) accessible and engaging for every child.

The Power of Play
At Discovery Lab, guests enter a world of wonder—crawling through our signature tape tunnels, composing music, tinkering in the workshop, and experimenting in the science lab. Our exhibits are intentionally designed to develop "executive function" skills, including critical thinking, collaboration, and innovation. By aligning our content with school curricula, we provide an informal learning environment that research shows improves reading readiness and long-term academic success.

Access for All
As a nonprofit, we rely on a combination of admission revenue and the generous support of individuals, foundations, and corporations. We are committed to inclusivity: more than 25% of our field trip visitors and 40% of our outreach programs are provided at free or reduced rates. Through Accessible Discovery, our financial aid program, we partner with local schools and community organizations to ensure that every child, regardless of background or income, can experience the power of play-based learning.

Company History

Our Journey
Originally launched as a “museum without walls,” Discovery Lab opened its first physical location at the Owen Park Recreation Center in 2013. Following years of rapid growth, we opened our world-class, 57,000-square-foot facility at Gathering Place in early 2022. This landmark expansion was designed to meet a critical educational need in Tulsa, and today, the museum impacts more than 300,000 children and families annually through on-site visits and community outreach.
