Ibis Reproductive Health is an international nonprofit organization with a mission to drive change
through bold, rigorous research and principled partnerships that advance sexual and reproductive
autonomy, choices, and health worldwide. We believe that research can catalyze change when the
entire research process is viewed as an opportunity to shift power, is undertaken in partnership with
the communities most affected, and includes focus on how data can be most effectively used to
make change. We focus on increasing access to quality abortion care, transforming access to
abortion and contraception through technology and service innovations, and expanding
comprehensive sexual and reproductive health information and services. Our offices are in
Cambridge, MA; Johannesburg, South Africa; and Oakland, CA, with several staff working remotely.
Internship description:
We seek 2-3 interns with a strong commitment to the advancement of sexual and reproductive
health, rights, and justice and the ability to provide research support on Ibis projects. Intern
positions are meant to offer exposure and skills-building opportunities to early career researchers
and would be most appropriate for undergraduate, masters-level students, or people with entry-level
work experience (no degree required; this internship is not designed for PhD-level researchers).
Applicants should be comfortable working on abortion, supporting multiple projects simultaneously,
interacting with people from diverse backgrounds, and they should have experience with and/or
interest in sexual and reproductive health research and advocacy. This is a remote position based
within the United States. If you are located near the Cambridge, MA or Oakland, CA offices, there
may be opportunities to visit the office.

Overarching skills:
- Attention to detail and time management
- Collaborative and self-directed workstyle
- Interest/experience working with diverse communities and populations (ex. BIPOC,
LGBTQIA, etc.)
For research-focused interns:
- Interest and/or experience with qualitative coding and analysis and relevant software (Dedoose, MAXQDA, etc.)
- Interest and/or experience working in quantitative studies, such as tracking and analyzing survey or health records data; data management skills, basic familiarity with Stata or R a plus
Internship timeline and format:
These positions are expected to begin in late May or early June. Intern positions will require a time commitment of approximately 20-30 hours a week for 10-12 weeks; however, this may be flexible depending on the candidate’s availability and project needs. Interns will receive a modest stipend (minimum of $4,000 for 10 weeks), though the exact amount may increase dependent on funding availability. There may be an opportunity to extend the length of the internship, but this is similarly dependent on funding. We welcome applications from students receiving work study or practicum/school credit. This position is based in the United States. Unfortunately, we are not able to sponsor work visas at this time.
