POSITION: Dental Informatics and Plan Operations Director (Full Time Position)

POSITION SUMMARY: The Dental Informatics and Plan Operations Director (DIPOD) will lead NADP’s activity and represent the interests of the dental benefits industry before a number of industry organizations concerned with informatics, electronic transaction standards, and plan operations. This includes seeking input from relevant volunteer workgroups ahead of time and relaying information from those organizations to relevant volunteer groups. The DIPOD is an industry-wide asset on informatics and electronic transactions for NADP members who seek opportunities to disseminate information across NADP membership. The DIPOD engages in a variety of dental plan operational areas and manages the NADP Operations and EDI volunteer groups.
DESCRIPTION: NADP seeks a self-starter with a background in dental informatics and/or government relations to assist in execution of NADP's responsibilities on a wide array of national and international standards committees and organizations. The position will report to the Deputy Executive Director with responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:
act as NADP representative for attending conferences and/or phone calls for industry organizations including but not limited to HL7, WEDI, ADA Standards, DeCC, X12, CARC/RARC committees, NDEDIC, AADC and ADSO;
preparing and presenting oral and written testimony to standards organizations during working meetings and public hearings;
facilitate and lead industry volunteer groups within the NADP structure via conference calls and meetings;
preparing reports and materials related to NADP informatics responsibilities for dissemination to NADP members;
developing internal news articles related to informatics activities;
maintaining departmental budget for travel and informatics related activities; and
back-up and support Deputy Executive Director and other NADP staff and volunteer groups.
SALARY/BENEFITS: NADP salaries are currently benchmarked to the median of ASAE data for trade organizations of similar budget and staff sizes with national scope. In addition to salary, there is potential for up to a 7.5% annual bonus based on performance. NADP also provides a benefit stipend of approximately 100% of health/dental/vision premiums of NADP offered coverage and an employer matching contribution up to 5% of salary deferral into self-directed 401K with a 3-year cliff after six months of full-time employment.
NADP provides new employees with 8 holidays and 2 personal days with pay each year; 10 days of annual paid vacation; and one day of sick leave each month (can accrue to 240-hour maximum). Limited tuition assistance for position-related course work is also provided.
BACKGROUND: The National Association of Dental Plans (NADP) is the trade association representing the dental benefits industry. NADP members provide dental benefits products to over 200 million Americans and include the entire spectrum of dental carriers: companies that provide both medical and dental coverage, companies that provide only dental coverage, major national carriers, regional, and single state companies, as well as companies organized as non-profit plans.

Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree with 2 to 3 years’ experience* in dental informatics and/or government relations field; association experience preferred. Experience in reviewing legislation and regulations, familiarity with electronic commerce and/or EDI standards, strong computer skills including use of the internet & social media as well as Microsoft Office products. We are looking for a self-starter and independent worker who requires minimal supervision after initial training and must have excellent writing and organizational skills. This position includes up to 45 days of overnight travel, i.e. primarily domestic but international possible.
*Degree may be substituted with a commensurate number of years of direct experience in the medical and/or dental EDI or plan operations fields. Experience may be substituted with advanced degree in health care related informatics.
