Description
This position is open to students who have completed all the coursework in an NCRA-accredited cancer registry management/cancer information management degree or certificate program and need to complete the practicum experience to fulfill the requirement for the Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) exam. Should a student be accepted by this facility, he/she will provide documentation of program completion.
Students applying for practicum positions at this facility must have completed all the coursework in an NCRA-accredited degree or certificate program in cancer registry management/cancer information management. Students must adhere to the facility rules and regulations and should understand that the facility has the option to schedule you when it is convenient. Students may be required to provide a record of immunizations, a background check, a drug test and professional liability insurance, upon acceptance.
Requirements
Students are accepted into a practicum program at this facility based on space available at the facility. Facilities are limited in the number of student spaces available. Submitting an application to this facility does not guarantee the student a place in the practicum program. If the facility has an interest in having a student join the program, they will contact the student. It is the responsibility of the student to follow-up with the Human Resources Department at the facility, should there be questions.
Candidates for Practicum Student positions must have:
- Minimum of an Associate's Degree (or the equivalent 60 college credit hours)
-Two semesters of Anatomy and Physiology
- Completion of all coursework in an NCRA - accredited formal education program in Cancer Registry Management (CRM)/Cancer Information Management (CIM).
National Cancer Registrars Association represents Cancer Registry professionals and Certified Tumor Registrars. Cancer Registrars capture a complete summary of patient history, diagnosis, treatment, and status for every cancer patient in the United States, and other countries as well. Cancer Registrars hope their work will lead to better treatments, and ultimately, a cure.
