Green Diamond Resource Company is seeking a Senior Silviculture Forester to support our Northwest Timberlands Division based in Shelton, Washington. This role oversees silviculture and forest management activities across approximately 315,000 acres of western Washington timberlands.
This position is a mix of field and office work, with approximately 50% of time spent in each environment. The role works closely with Forestry, Logging, Harvest Planning, Wildlife, and Engineering teams to coordinate safe, efficient, and sustainable forest management operations. This role requires a strong background in forestry operations and the ability to work independently in both office and remote field settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Leading silviculture programs including reforestation, vegetation control, slash burning, fertilization, animal damage control, and pre-commercial thinning
Managing and overseeing contractor operations and ensuring work quality and contract compliance
Supporting operational planning, scheduling, budgeting, and permitting activities
Coordinating with internal teams and adjacent landowners
Promoting and maintaining strong safety practices across all operations
Monitoring forestry operations and adapting plans based on operational and environmental conditions
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in Forest Management or related field, or equivalent experience
10+ years of forestry or silviculture experience
Experience overseeing field operations and contractor crews
Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions
Commitment to safety, stewardship, and teamwork
Preferred qualifications include knowledge of Washington Forest Practice regulations, leadership experience, and experience with budgeting or operational planning.
