Requirements
Mental Performance Coach Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Work in collaboration with the Team LMHP, Director of Performance, Medical Staff and Coaching Staff
Engage in the strategic development and application of systems to improve mental performance throughout the organization.
Observe, collaborate, research, and implement evidence based mental performance techniques such as goal setting, visualization/imagery, self-talk, energy management, etc. with Players
Monitor the development of individual mental performance training plans, routines, and their application to performance.
Educate and present mental performance topics to players, coaches, and staff in group and individual settings.
Consult and collaborate with Team LMHP to develop a coordinated and programmatic approach to mental health, wellness, and performance for the entire Team.
Collaborate with the Player Development, Medical (Team CMO, ATC, PT, Dieticians) and Performance Department Staff (Strength and Conditioning, Position Coaches, Sport Science etc.) to create optimal strategies for enhancing player performance and development.
Understand scope of competence and collaborate and refer effectively to the Licensed Mental Health Provider.
Maintain up to date knowledge of theories and practices in the field of Sport Psychology.
Maintain any notes or records of work with players and these records shall be treated as confidential and protected health information communicated to others only with Player’s written permission, or to appropriate healthcare staff if the Mental Performance Consultant believes that the Player is in danger of harming themselves or others. Understanding of HIPAA regulations
Attends and participates in staff meetings and consultations as requested
Participates as capable in NWSL League Mental Health and Performance Monthly Meetings
Maintains active membership in relevant professional organizations to remain current in national best-practices.
Demonstrate high-level interpersonal skills required to work effectively with Players, Team Medical Staff, Coaches, other Team personnel and League staff.
Maintain professional liability insurance.
Compile reports as required by the League.
Attend all activities/meetings/programs as required by the League.
Perform other duties as assigned or required by the League.
