Job Description Summary:
The Quality Assurance Data Analyst (QADA) will play a keep role in bringing Data as a Service (DaaS), Data Analytics, and Self-Service Reporting to our users and stakeholders. The QADA will work with the Informatics Product Owners, Architects, Engineers and Business Intelligence team members to provide quality data assurance in each of our incremental ETL, BI Reports and Project Feasibility Work Products. The QADA needs to have expert ability to define test scenarios and scripting methodologies for complete unit and system integration tests. The successful candidate will demonstrate passion for delivering healthcare insights to change the standard of care delivered to patients via research and to provide dynamic reports back to the business.
The Quality Assurance Data Analyst will define and document plans for total testing solutions for the entire data delivery process. The QADA ensures proper tools, techniques, and methodologies are applied throughout the test cycle with feedback loop to product, data and development teams. The QADA needs to have expert ability to define test scenarios and scripting methodologies for complete unit and system integration tests.
Responsibilities and Job Scope:
KPI 1 – Quality Assurance

Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback in ETLs, data set delivery, BI reports and applications

Create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases
-
Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities
-
Design, develop and execute automation scripts using open source tools
-
Identify, record and document thoroughly to track and help resolve bugs
-
Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved
-
Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products to meet client needs
-
Work with internal teams (e.g. developers and product managers) to identify system requirements
-
Monitor debugging process results

Investigate the causes of non-conforming software and train users to implement solutions
-
Track quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defect counts
-
Stay up to date with new testing tools and test strategies
KPA 2 – Data Governance
-
Domain understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, business intelligence, ELT development and ability to read, write, maintain and identify SQL query tuning opportunities

Critical thinking and logic skills with attention to details and ability to identify root cause for data anomalies and data quality issues

Governance first mindset with ability to consult business and technical users in observance of people and processes over tools

Consult the business regarding educational opportunities, process improvement and business requirements to drive tool selection and consolidation activities
KPA 3 – DevOps
-
Collaborate with project teams to drive project plan, metrics, specifications, design, development, integration, verification, validation and launch of solutions consistent with organizational development processes

Endorse database change automation in CI/CD pipeline to enable reliable, rapid and effortless releases into production to provide agile analytics

Participate in ideation sessions with the team while also able to work independently in support of organizational initiatives to meet project deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

Strong quantitative/qualitative business case analysis skills with the ability to manage multiple competing initiatives in a cross-functional environment
Position Qualifications/Requirements
Education:
-
Healthcare professional degree qualification (Ph.D., MD., RN., CPhT., RPhT.) preferred
-
Bachelor’s degree in business analytics, computer science, engineering, accounting, finance,
management information systems or another related field. In lieu of degree, 6+ years of experience is required or the equivalent combination for education and experience.
Previous Experience:
-
Professional clinical experience preferred
-
5+ years experience and extensive knowledge of data quality methods and techniques
-
5+ years experience with healthcare and research operations
-
5 + years experience working with database systems (preferable Oracle and Microsoft SQL
Server) and supporting tools
-
5+ years experience and knowledge of quality assurance best practices, software testing methodologies and frameworks, especially in a data warehouse and business intelligence environment
-
5+ years experience in developing test strategies, creating test plans, test cases, test scripts and managing defects
-
Experience in testing large scale database systems, preferably business intelligence systems and or data warehouse
-
2+ years in an active healthcare big-data integration experience with multiple heterogenous data sources with data cleansing and reference/master data management on an enterprise data warehouse to create a centralized ‘trusted data’ set for data analysis
-
Proven work experience in software development/ business intelligence Proven work experience in software quality assurance
-
Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases
-
Hands-on experience with both white box and black box testing
-
Hands-on experience with automated testing tools
-
Product or lean management experience in healthcare setting
-
Experience with performance and/or security testing preferred
Core Capabilities:

Technical aptitude and understanding of databases, data warehouse, and reporting technologies

Understanding of clinical data and data quality needs in ambulatory oncology setting.

Work closely with Informatics leadership and business stakeholders to coordinate the development
of Informatics products that will grow the business.
Computer Skills:
-
Testing and automation tools
-
Familiarity with EMR/PM systems, SQL and Power BI.

Agile management tools (Azure DevOps, JIRA, Rally, VersionOne, etc.) preferred
-
Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook required.
