The Verona Area School District is seeking an equity-centered instructional leader with in-depth knowledge of instructional programming, Special Education programming, change management processes, and strong student advocacy to cultivate community in our progressive school district as of July 1, 2026, as an Associate Principal.
This Associate Principal position primarily serves Badger Ridge Middle School (80%) and also provides support to Core Knowledge Charter School (20%), which is integrated into the Badger Ridge Middle School campus.
In this role, you will be the driving force behind our inclusive practices, leading staff in developing instructional methods and classroom modeling to ensure every student achieves measurable academic and functional growth. We need a collaborator who can build education capacity through UDL and differentiation, while also serving as a primary resource for families to ensure meaningful participation in the educational process.
Beyond instruction, you will be the cornerstone of building-level compliance, overseeing IDEA requirements, managing specialized staffing and schedules, and establishing data dashboards to monitor effectiveness and equity. The Verona Area School District (VASD) is a Pre-K/4K–12 public school district of approximately 5,900 students located near Madison, WI. VASD is a thriving school district with 10 schools, including three charter schools and a two-way immersion Spanish program. Our incredible VASD student body is 40% non-white, 25% receive free or reduced lunches, 14% percentage are English Learners, and 9% receive special education services. Our staff is 900+ strong across all positions, including full and part-time.
Badger Ridge Middle School is a grade 6-8 monolingual and multilingual two-way immersion school located within the City of Verona, WI, and a part of the Verona Area School District. There are many reasons why Badger Ridge is an incredible school. One of those reasons is the diversity of the students that call Badger Ridge their school. Of the over 700+ students who attend Badger Ridge Middle School, 40% are students of color, 15% are students who are linguistically diverse, 7% are students with special needs and 26% are students whose families receive assistance with meal costs. Badger Ridge serves students from geographically separated areas of our District drawing from parts of nearby neighborhoods as well from the City of Verona, Fitchburg and other rural areas. Core Knowledge Charter School is a pubic charter school, grades K-8, and a part of the Verona Area School District. Of the over 415+ students who attend Core Knowledge Charter School, 23% are students of color, 2% are students who are linguistically diverse, 5% are students with special needs, and 11% are students whose families receive assistance with meal costs. The dedicated, well-trained and hard-working staff of Badger Ridge Middle School and Core Knowledge Charter School are a mix of highly experienced and those new to the profession who are eager to work collaboratively with each other and their new associate principal.
Salary, Benefits, Length of Contract: This position works a 220-day (10 month) contract with starting compensation that is negotiable but will be no less than $121,343 with an exceptional benefits package.
Requirements
If you would like to be considered for this position, you must have a background in special education and be able to demonstrate that you have provided leadership resulting in measurable action and deliverables across several areas. If you are selected for an interview, you will be asked to provide evidence of results, including:
