The Artistic Director for the Southern Delaware Chorale is responsible, under the direction of the Board of Directors, for the planning, development and execution of diverse and appropriately challenging choral concert seasons for the organization. Currently, there are 3 concerts per season: December Holiday Concert, February/March Black History and Women's History and the Spring Concert in April/May. These concerts may be performed at various venues and are augmented by the Southern Delaware Chorale's Ensemble, an auditioned smaller group, also under the direction of the Artistic Director.

Summary of Responsibilities
Serve as an ex officio member of the Board of Directors and provide progress reports at each Board of Director’s meeting and summer retreat. 2. As a permanent member of the Music Committee, the Artistic Director will lead the process of selecting the music for each concert season with input from the music committee. Final approval for all programs rests with the Board of Directors. 3. Determine with the Music Committee specific instrumental requirements for concert accompaniment (chamber orchestra, jazz combo, organ, piano, auxiliary instruments) and lead in procurement. Arrange for adequate rehearsals with accompanist(s) in advance of dress rehearsal(s). 4. Work with the SDC librarian to ensure that all choral, accompanist, and soloists music is acquired and available in a timely fashion while adhering to the budget. 5. Direct chorus in rehearsals and concerts, scheduling extra and sectional rehearsals when necessary. 6. Assist in finding accompanist for rehearsals (If sub is needed) and concerts and communicate with accompanist regarding rehearsal content and schedule changes as needed. 7. Conduct auditions periodically to select members from the chorus for the Ensemble. With assistance from the Communications Coordinator and the Board of Directors, select dates, locations and programs for Ensemble Outreach performances and schedule appropriate rehearsals. Will rehearse and direct the ensemble in rehearsals and performances and schedule extra rehearsals and sectionals when necessary. 8. Promote the SDC High School Scholarship Program, including auditioning prospective upcoming High School Juniors and Seniors in March of each year. 9. Write the program notes for the concert program. 10. Continue professional growth by participating in continuing education- reimbursed by the Board of Directors with prior approval. * Bachelor's degree or higher in Music, Choral, Conducting
