Join our team as a WIC Supervisor Registered Dietitian at Grandview Medical-Dental Clinic in Grandview, WA.
This position is responsible for the management of WIC (Woman Infant Children) Clinic site(s) and staff and/or Registered Dietitians (RD), ensuring quality customer care and compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations. Provides medical nutrition therapy for high-risk WIC clients or supervises RDs in clinics providing direct service. Functions as an interdisciplinary healthcare team member to assess and treat medical conditions and address individual nutrition needs as well as strategizing toward the achievement of goals and quality metrics.

Position Highlights:

$80K - $91K DOE with the ability to go higher for highly experienced candidates

$7,500.00 Hiring/Retention Bonus Structure:

At Hire: $2,250.00

At 180 days (6 months): $3,000.00

At 12 months: $2,250.00

What You’ll Do:
-
Coach, mentor, and train directreport staff. Provide continuous performance management and conduct employee performance evaluations. Address performance and/or behavior issues, clarify expectations, and provide feedback
-
Support staff growth and development. Assess the educational and experience needs of all levels of staff in collaboration with the individual. Encourage staff to seek educational opportunities, incorporating jobrelated training in addition to mandatory training
-
Participate in the recruitment and selection of staff. Provide orientation to outline job requirements and expectations, policies and procedures, and proper use of tools and equipment

Coordinate clinic flow, manage clinic or RD schedules, maintain assigned caseload, and lead achievement of clinic goals
-
Conduct or monitor nutritional screening and assessment for clients, including anthropometric and laboratory data, collection of nutrition history, calculation of nutrition adequacy, and identification of drugnutrient interactions

Identify or monitor desired goals and outcomes of nutrition care in collaboration with the client and health care professionals. Consider variables that may influence the client’s foodrelated behaviors, including culture and social determinants of health. Evaluate and provide evidencebased nutrition and breastfeeding recommendations to address client medical needs, or monitor such work of RDs. Understand and evaluate client nutrition status and its relationship to complex disease states, including diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, food allergies, and obesity

Manage and coordinate program outreach events
-
Provide information about services to health care providers and community partners to improve access to services, promote participation, and deliver consistent nutrition and breastfeeding messages

Serve as Preceptor to Dietetic interns and students or mentor those who are Preceptors
-
Hire, orient, and train staff in compliance with Nutrition Services Procedures and State and Federal requirements. Assist in monitoring staff compliance with procedures, requirements, and quality metrics

Assist in the development of Quality Assurance (QA) tools and department procedures to monitor compliance with Nutrition Services Procedures, State and Federal WIC requirements, and/or Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic (YVFWC) Health and Safety Procedures. Perform QA activities and create reports according to established procedures. Coach and mentor staff regarding quality improvement issues

Actively participate in meetings to promote careteam collaboration and ongoing learning

Maintain awareness of community demographics and resources. Connect clients and staff to resources
-
Complete documentation in the appropriate electronic medical record to document client interaction

Perform other duties as assigned

Perform clinical responsibilities in alignment with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and YVFWC requirements
Qualifications:
-
Master’s Degree in Dietetics from a U.S. regionally accredited college, university, or foreign equivalent for new graduates after January 2024. Dietitians credentialed prior to Jan 2024 are allowed to be grandfathered in with a Bachelor’s Degree

Completion of ACEND® (Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics) accredited academic coursework in a Didactic Program in Dietetics

A Master’s Degree in Dietetics serves as two years of experience for job offer purposes
-
One year’s experience in a WIC or clinical setting preferred. This includes one year’ leadership or supervisory experience preferred
-
Registered Dietitian or registration eligible required (must obtain RD credential within 180 days of employment)

International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) preferred
-
May require the following certifications based on location and job duties performed

- Certified Dietitian (WA Dietitians - if going to bill for MSS)

- International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Must demonstrate the ability to communicate at level 9 on the language proficiency scale to receive bilingual differential pay

Ability to effectively interact with adults, infants, children in a professional manner

Must be able to collaborate with medical professionals and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Must display flexibility and initiative, be forward thinking, and display strong communication skills

Knowledge of cultural differences and culturally appropriate practice. Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse populations

Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Records

Valid Driver’s License and proof of liability insurance coverage
