Job Summary:
The Transportation Safety and Maintenance Manager oversees driver safety, compliance, and fleet maintenance to ensure efficient and safe operations. This role involves conducting safety training, monitoring driver behavior, managing accident reporting, and ensuring adherence to FMCSA and DOT regulations. Additionally, they develop maintenance schedules, track costs, manage vendor relationships, and implement programs to reduce downtime and improve equipment performance.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Conduct regular safety training sessions to ensure drivers follow safe operating practices and comply with FMCSA regulations.
- Monitor driver behavior through cameras and reports, providing coaching and accountability as needed.
- Manage accident and injury reporting, conducting thorough investigations and implementing corrective actions.
- Maintain up-to-date Driver Qualification (DQ) files and ensure compliance with FMCSA guidelines. Oversee the random drug screening program, ensuring quarterly testing is completed per FMCSA requirements.
- Screen potential driver candidates by reviewing PSP reports, MVR records, and job references.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive driver orientation program covering safety protocols, equipment operation, and company policies.
- Create and maintain preventive maintenance schedules to minimize equipment downtime and ensure DOT compliance.
- Manage vendor relationships, negotiate repair rates, and track maintenance costs to control expenses.
- Conduct monthly safety meetings to discuss trends, provide training, and reinforce safe driving practices.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Minimum 10 years of Transportation Safety experience.
