- Specialty Intructor - Dance/Tumbling
Description
Responsible for the tumbling program design and implementation for ages 5-12 years old. The instructor must teach the elements, concepts and the technical aspects of tumbling to enhance dancer's performance routines.
JOB SUMMARY:
Development and presentation of tumbling classes for ages 5-12 years old.
Design courses, prepare course description and procure all class materials.
Instruction of tumbling to program participants, geared specifically to students in our dance programs.
Develop new programs and/or maintain existing program(s) to expand beyond current status when feasible, i.e. add more programs, increase customer base, increase revenues, etc.
Instruct participants in skills, techniques, and code of conduct of tumbling program. Exercises safety awareness and practices at all times.
Assists in marketing and evaluating of assigned program(s). Makes recommendations and provides feedback to Recreation Supervisor - Education and Dance for class/program improvement.
Monitor enrollment numbers of existing and future classes.
Work and communicate daily with customers, supervisors, and co-workers. Direct contact with parent(s) on a regular basis through verbal and electronic communication. Assist with the cleaning and maintenance of surrounding program area (to include trash pickup and set-up and take down of equipment) before and after each program.
Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 21 years of age. High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) required. College degree related to specialty area or experience as tumbling or gymnastic coach or instructor.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS
CPR Certification preferred or must be able to obtain within 30 days of hire.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. The ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written form. Must possess excellent customer service skills.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed by uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of various forms of dance such as ballet, modern dance, jazz, tap, and hip-hop. Ability to work with younger student populations.
MATERIALS & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED
Music, stereo, ballet bars and equipment utilized in dance instruction.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
