Description
- Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including detailed medical histories, physical examinations, and pain assessments to determine appropriate treatment plans.
- Provide pain management services primarily to adult patients, with occasional care provided to adolescent patients when appropriate.
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses, injuries, and pain conditions in collaboration with the supervising physician.
- Formulate and implement comprehensive, outcomes-based treatment plans based on patient assessments, evidence-based medicine, standards of care, and professional practice guidelines.
- Prescribe, recommend, and manage medical drug therapies in accordance with state and federal regulations, clinical protocols, and best practices with attention to efficacy, safety, and cost.
- Order interventional pain procedures as medically necessary
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests including laboratory studies, imaging, and other diagnostic procedures to support patient diagnosis and treatment.
- Perform or assist with in-office procedures within the provider’s scope of practice, training, and competency as delegated by the supervising physician.
- Evaluate patient responses to treatment and modify care plans as necessary to improve patient outcomes and overall function.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medication management, procedures, lifestyle modifications, nutrition, and health promotion strategies.
- Counsel patients on medication regimens, potential side effects, interactions, and safe use of prescribed therapies.
- Recommend behavioral or lifestyle modifications to reduce health risks and support long-term pain management and wellness.
- Collaborate with physicians, referring providers, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR), including patient assessments, treatment plans, and outcomes.
- Initiate consultations or referrals when patient needs exceed the provider’s scope of practice or expertise.
- Respond to patient inquiries, medication refill requests, and follow-up care needs in a timely and professional manner.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with clinic policies, regulatory standards, and professional guidelines.
- Provide specialty-level care consistent with the provider’s training, certification, and experience in pain management.
- Travel between and provide clinical coverage at multiple office locations, including Irving and Plano, as needed.
- May be required to perform patient care duties beyond regular hours based on clinic coverage needs.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge and experience with interventional pain management principles and practices
- Proficient in medical documentation and electronic health record systems (AthenaHealth experience a plus)
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality
- Knowledge of LOP / Personal Injury case management a plus
- Valid Nurse Practitioner license in Texas
- Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited program
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in Interventional Pain
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals
- Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
- Experience administering injections and performing patient assessments
- Compassionate and caring to patients and staff at all times
