Ascension St. Vincent is looking for an Internal Medicine Physician to serve the Jennings County community.
Position Highlights
- Join practice of 4 physicians and 4 APPs serving adult patients within Jennings County
- Schedule is Monday - Friday within the primary care clinic
- On-call requirements include 1 in 4 weekend shifts at Ascension St. Vincent Jennings Critical Access Hospital, which is comprised of 18 beds and 4 swing beds
- Rounding is once every 24 hour period and physician must be available by phone for the remainder of the shift

This job location is currently located in a Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) and/or Medically Underserved Areas/Populations (MUA/P) Shortage Designation Type.
Responsibilities
- Provide medical services to patients in an assigned area.
- Evaluate and treat patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills.
- Coordinate discharge planning with case management.
- Recommend, participate in, and work to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
- Accept patient referrals from other physicians. Act as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital.
- Participate in academic programs (eg medical education and research) as requested.
- Provide appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.
- Participate in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules.

Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration
- Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Indiana Medical Licensing Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
- Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Education
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
