Description
Michigan Families for Fair Care (MFFFC) is hiring two part-time Field Fellows to help grow our community presence and recruit storytellers across Michigan. We’re seeking one fellow to cover MI-07 and one fellow to cover MI-10.
Field Fellows will help expand our ability to recruit local storytellers, strengthen relationships with community stakeholders, and build attendance and visibility for MFFFC events and actions.
Position Details
- Role: Field Fellow (Part-Time)
- Coverage Areas: MI-07 (one position) and MI-10 (one position)
- Time Commitment: 20 hours/week
- Compensation: $2,000/month
- Start Date: 2026 (exact timing TBD)
- Location: Michigan-based; travel within the district required (events and community engagement)
Core Responsibilities
Communications & Social Support
- Assist with posting on personal social media platforms and engaging with MFFFC content (e.g., Twitter/X, Facebook)
- Help generate social media post ideas that align with MFFFC messaging and campaign goals
Power Mapping & Stakeholder Engagement
- Identify key stakeholders across MI-07 or MI-10, including:
- Community organizations and local partners
- Local leaders and trusted validators
- Individuals who can offer quotes for press releases and other communications
- Recommend partnership opportunities and help build relationships in targeted communities
Events & Community Presence
- Plan and execute earned media events:
- Brainstorm creative event ideas
- Scout and suggest locations
- Help build capacity to run events
- Run events with or without onsite MFFFC staff, as needed
- Represent MFFFC at community events
Storyteller Recruitment
- Identify and recruit stakeholders and storytellers with relevant experiences, including:
- Healthcare-related stories
- Veteran stories
- Working family stories
Requirements
We’re looking for candidates who are:
- Strong communicators and relationship-builders
- Comfortable recruiting community members and storytellers with sensitivity and respect
- Organized and able to juggle multiple tasks
- Familiar with MI-07 or MI-10 communities and local media ecosystems
- Able to attend events and travel within the district as needed
