Southwest Vermont Regional Technical School District Job Title: Medical Professions Teacher Location: Southwest Tech, Bennington, VT School Year: 2026-2027 Employment Type: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week (School Year Position) Salary: In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, $52,092 - $92,655 Application Deadline: April 10, 2026 Position Overview The Medical Professions teacher teaches a two-year Medical Professions program aligned with the Vermont CTE Health Science Standards. This role includes designing and implementing standards-based classroom, laboratory, and work-based instruction that prepares students for postsecondary education and entry-level employment in healthcare. The teacher collaborates with community healthcare partners to strengthen applied learning and support students' transition into further education, training programs, or the healthcare workforce. Qualifications Candidates must possess at least six years of recent work experience in the healthcare field and hold a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related discipline. Teaching experience preferred. Knowledge of concepts, methods, techniques, and practices associated with entry level positions in the healthcare industry. Ability to teach CPR and First Aid certification courses. Ability to work effectively with staff and students. A general knowledge of the goals of career & technical education. Eligible for a Vermont Agency of Education Professional Apprenticeship License. Willingness to complete education courses required for teacher's licensure (must complete within three years). Performance Responsibilities Develop and teach curriculum that aligns with the Vermont CTE standards for Health Science Education. Teach first aid and CPR courses that provide students with industry-recognized certifications. Teach curriculum for two college-level, dual-enrollment courses: Human Biology and Medical Terminology. Form positive relationships with students and manage a classroom of students. Connect students regularly with the work-based learning coordinator and school counseling coordinator to engage in post-secondary education and training. Foster the development of leadership, teamwork, effective communication skills, attitude, and ethics in a manner appropriate to the industry and involve students in the activities of HOSA- Future Health Professionals, the program's Career Technical Student Organization (CTSO). Facilitate a Program Advisory Committee of industry experts to guide the program. Maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting. Communicate students' progress and challenges to families. Participate fully in staff meetings, professional development, and recruitment activities. Tools/Technology Requirements: a) Ability to utilize technology and operate computers and computer programs. b) Experience and knowledge of computerized database systems. b) Use with proficiency healthcare equipment and simulation devices. 2. Physical and Mental Demands: a) Frequently required to stand; walk; sit. b) Occasional lifting or assist with lifting, reaching with hands and arms. c) Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds in the clinical setting, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. 3. Work Environment: a) Generally, inside the school building. b) Noise level is mild to moderate. c) Clinical settings for job shadows: hospital, medical offices, and other opportunities as they arise. Terms of Employment This teaching position's terms, salary, and benefits are governed by the negotiated teacher collective bargaining agreement. FLSA exempt.
