Cardiac Surgeon Opportunities
Openings in Los Angeles, California
Kaiser Permanente – Southern California Permanente Medical Group (SCPMG) in Los Angeles is the largest program in California for index cardiac surgery cases (~1400 cases). All surgeries are performed by senior cardiac surgeons with assistant cardiac surgeons. We are recruiting for both positions:
Senior Cardiac Surgeon
Opening in Los Angeles, California
Sign-On Bonus: $300,000
Position Highlights:
- Primary responsibilities include 4 day/week operation + 1 day/week call, daily rounds and peri-operative management of adult cardiac surgery patients
- Team is expanding due to rapidly increasing surgical volume
- Cardiac surgery has four exclusive OR rooms with two more available for expansion
- Volume: Perform 2 surgeries / day (morning and afternoon)
- Anesthesia and nursing team dedicated to cardiac surgery
- Self-contained ICU with 24-hour inhouse intensivist staff
- Departmental step-down beds attended by our own nurse practitioners
Qualifications:
- Qualified candidates must have a completed an ACGME-accredited cardiothoracic surgery training program and be board certified or eligible in cardiothoracic surgery
- Candidates must possess a strong clinical background and the ability to independently perform adult cardiac surgery
Assistant Cardiac Surgeon
Opening in Los Angeles, California
Sign-On Bonus: $100,000
Position Highlights:
- Primary responsibility: assist senior cardiac surgeon in cases, 5 day/week operation
- No peri-operative management
- No pre-op responsibilities
- Perfect for cardiac surgery work-life balance
- Team is expanding due to rapidly increasing surgical volume
- Cardiac surgery has four exclusive OR rooms with two more available for expansion
Qualifications:
- Qualified candidates must have a completed an ACGME-accredited cardiothoracic surgery training program and be board certified or eligible in cardiothoracic surgery

Salary range for full-time openings is $650,375.00 - $980,955.00. Potential premium earnings are up to $184,860.00. Salaries are inclusive of incentives depending on skills and competencies and geographic location. Potential premium earnings are based on location. Annual Salary is determined by longevity with the Group and full time equivalent (FTE) work schedule/effort.
