Description
A leading global investment management firm is seeking an APAC Financial Crime Officer to join its regional Risk & Controls function in Singapore. This is a senior individual contributor role within the First Line, providing subject-matter expertise across financial crime matters and acting as a key regional point of contact during APAC business hours.The role partners closely with business stakeholders across public and private markets, as well as global Financial Crime Operations teams, to support onboarding, KYC, due diligence, investigations, and broader financial crime governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a regional subject-matter expert on APAC financial crime regulations, risks, trends, and typologies within the asset management sector.
- Provide guidance and advisory support to business teams and global Financial Crime Operations on AML, KYC, sanctions, fraud, and onboarding matters.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex or high-risk cases, including sanctions approvals and suspicious activity reviews.
- Support APAC-time-zone coverage for global financial crime operations, including investigations and case management.
- Partner directly with front-office and business teams to review onboarding pipelines, address screening challenges, and deliver pragmatic, risk-based solutions.
- Act as a focal point for APAC-specific KYC matters, liaising with internal stakeholders and third-party administrators where relevant.
- Contribute to the implementation of global AML standards, providing APAC-specific input on regulatory and operational considerations.
- Support broader operational risk management and resilience initiatives within the APAC COO/Risk & Controls framework.
Requirements
- 10-12 years of experience in financial crime, AML, or compliance, ideally within asset management, investment management, or buy-side institutions.
- Strong hands-on experience across KYC, customer due diligence, onboarding, and financial crime advisory.
- Solid understanding of APAC AML and financial crime regulatory requirements.
- Ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders and balance regulatory expectations with commercial realities.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple time-sensitive matters in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and experience working within global, matrixed organisations.
- Experience in operational risk or resilience is advantageous.
- Additional APAC language skills are a plus.
